  • While the state is characterized with significant decreases in the valuation of agricultural lands, this region experienced a stable valuation of such lands at a rate of 1%. This is only one of two regions that did not experience a decrease

  • This region has the second-lowest rate of public ownership of land at 16%

  • The region experienced the lowest percentage increase in per capita income from 1990 through 1996

  • In 1995 this region had the second-lowest annual payroll in the state, after the San Luis Valley
