  • Substantial portions of Elbert and Teller county residents work outside of the county, at rates of 68% and 56%, respectively.

  • The region is tied with the West-Central, Western Slope Region for the highest decrease in the assessed valuation of agricultural properties, at a rate of -37 percent.

  • The increase in the number of farms from 1987-92, at 4 percent, is the second greatest in the state.

  • There have been significant increases in the number of building permits (477%) and well permit applications (73%).
